Greetings from the Library Manager, Ann Ivey

anniveyFruitville Library will be celebrating the 10th Anniversary of our Reading Garden this fall. On Saturday, October 26, 2013, there will be a dedication ceremony followed by a Fall Festival brought to you by the Friends of Fruitville Library.

The Library’s Reading Garden opened October 26, 2002. This favorite spot to relax, read and enjoy a bit of nature was the result of collaboration between Sarasota County Government, the Friends of the Fruitville Library and dozens of community businesses and organizations. The project was led by Lee Wetherington, of Lee Wetherington Homes who worked with the partners to create a space that was inviting to library visitors and would also provide a demonstration of eco-friendly practices.

The Friends of the Fruitville Library, along with volunteer Master Gardeners and Sarasota County Public Works continue to work together to maintain and enhance the Reading Garden. We look forward to celebrating such a successful collaboration.
Hope to see you there!
